In autumn this year, Zurich is about to join the ranks of the city ports of the high seas, purely in an artistic sense. Within the scope of a tender issued by the city for a student art commission for art in the public space on the Limmatquai, the young artists, Jan Morgenthaler, Barbara Roth, Martin Senn and Fariba Sepehrnia, developed the winning project with the name "zürich transit maritim". According to the initiators, the idea summons up the industrial period when ship propellers were still produced in Zürich West.

Until 2015, pivoting harbour cranes, ship’s horns and iron bollards will be enlivening the new promenade along the Limmatquai and transforming Zurich into a harbour city on the sea.
